Message from the President
18th November 2005 was the First Inauguration Ceremony for Hong Kong Façade Association and we have just celebrated our 7th Inauguration Ceremony with 250 guests on 17th November 2017.
Start from this year, term of office will be extended from 2 years to 3 years. This change shall allow the committee not only for better planning but also have ample time for execution. During the past 6 years, the association has been promoting Façade Industry to the construction market so as to attract more potential candidates especially young engineers to join the industry. We all aware that there is shortage of engineers and designers within the industry for years as there was no others means to learn about curtainwall. Hence the association has initiated to organize various training courses. Thank you for the Education and Professional Development Sub-Committee keeps exploring opportunities for those young and enthusiastic engineers by conducting seminars, workshops, field visit, Professional Diploma course and design module under Master course in collaboration with different Universities. In end 2016, we had reviewed the overall response, comments together with the current market situation, the committee concurred that now is time to be “Back to Basic”. Therefore, we have launched two Foundation and one Advance Course for curtain wall in this year. The overall feedback is positive and encouraging, therefore both Foundation and Advance courses will be continued in 2018.
In façade industry, other than facing deficit in resources and aging problem. We have to advance our knowledge, review current practice to seek for improvement and explore new technology to fit for the future. Be open minded and ready to take the challenge anywhere. Contractors in HK has been successfully completed numerous projects over the globe and shall proudly let people know that we are part of the record breaker and have the technical knowhow to build for the future.
Last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all the committees for the hard work and welcome 3 new committee members. We also need your support and look forward to hear your advice from time to time.
President of The 7th Council Board
